Mapping the Movement

The goal of Palestine Portal is to catalyze and facilitate efforts from all levels of the church movement for a just peace in Israel/Palestine. This section of the Portal – Mapping the Movement – will introduce you to much of this activity across the U.S. and around the world: committees in congregations, regional ecumenical and interfaith coalitions, denomination-wide networks, and national organizations.

Church-based advocacy and education for a just peace in the Holy Land is thriving in many Christian denominations and ecumenical organizations in the United States; Christians in the U.S. work closely with important allies, such as Jewish Voice for Peace, American Muslims for Palestine, U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights and others.   There are also many campuses across the U.S. with organizing opportunities for students.

In addition to organizations and agencies with a national scope, Palestine Portal provides information on regional and local groups as well as congregations across the United States where many activists are working on local campaigns and expanding the reach of national programs.  Palestine Portal’s “mapping the movement” feature is intended to facilitate a network of such groups and to help congregations and communities who wish to form such groups to connect with and learn from existing groups.

The Kairos Palestine Document has also inspired a global response to the Palestinian cause,  each organization standing firmly in the contexts of their own local cultural and political struggles.  The Global Network page maps the expanding global community of kairos and allied organizations committed to a just peace in Palestine and by extension, political and economic equality for all peoples.
