Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP)

We believe that our mission as students living in a free democracy is to promote the cause of justice and speak out against oppression. We will work to educate members of our community specifically about the plight of the Palestinian people. We will raise awareness about this issue and provide students with an alternative resource of information to the mainstream media. We will also work to provide a comfortable environment where students and faculty can discuss and debate their diverse views on the various aspects of Palestinian politics and society.

Students for Justice in Palestine envisions a world where humans are treated equally with respect and dignity; where people live without the oppression of foreign occupation. We envision a world where justice and the rule of law bind humans together. We envision that one day, Palestinians will be free from occupation, free from fear, free from poverty, and will be able to determine their own fate as an independent nation living peacefully with its neighbors. Fully cognizant of the realities on the ground, we will nonetheless continue our work and keep in mind what Elie Wiesel once said, “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.”

National SJP

National SJP is an independent grassroots organization composed of students and recent graduates that provides support to SJP chapters on university campuses and the broader U.S. movement for Palestinian freedom and equality. NSJP was established in 2010 when an informal network of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) activists from across the country began organizing around a growing need to coordinate campus efforts and host a central gathering event for our young, intersectional social justice movement.

As students, education, awareness, and critical analysis are our priorities. Each year, we host a conference where student organizers can attend skill-building and political development workshops, meet with fellow organizers, and learn about other social justice movements. We also coordinate national campaigns like the R2E tour, curate a national newsletter, and provide SJPs with specialized assistance in planning events and actions, organizing boycott and divestment campaigns, writing resolutions and statements, working with media and press, connecting to legal aid, outreach, and more.

NSJP’s work is centered around freedom, justice, and equality for the Palestinian people, who have been living without basic rights under illegal Israeli military occupation for decades. We believe that all struggles for freedom and equality are interconnected and that we must embody the principles and ideals we envision for a just society. NSJP stands against homophobia, sexism, racism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, classism, colonialism, and bigotry and discrimination in any form.

Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) Student Network

Together, we’re a national coalition of undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, and campus activists united in support for Palestinian equal rights and liberation.

JVP campus chapters across the country work with Students for Justice in Palestine [see above] to support and develop BDS campaigns, to raise awareness of the Israeli occupation of Palestine, and to amplify a Jewish voice that insists on freedom for Palestinians. We also work to cultivate Jewish community spaces on campus that align with our values of dignity and justice for all.
